Abstract

The paper presents a study on the optimization of electric vehicle Charging Demand Using Synchronized Photovoltaic and Grid 230V Sources. The first part is focused on the optimization of the EV charging demand. Firstly, a brief introduction with daily travel behavior which focuses on the context of how people use their vehicle is described. Then, charging mode characteristics and EV battery types are defined. Furthermore, a layout model of households with PV installation is chosen with some assumptions. The result 45shows the number of EVs for every hour if the reference time is set at 18 o’clock. In addition to the number of EVs, the charging power for single EVs and multiple EVs is constructed. This work also integrates the average energy consumption for households in the study area with energy consumption for EVs. Thus, the total energy consumption of households and EVs is depicted. Finally, the optimization has been done using an iterative method so that the total power consumption profiles are leveled out, taking into account an EV penetration of 20 %. Hence, to flatten the profile, EV that arrives home at times 23 and 24 should delay two hours before charging. The second part of the paper discusses the prediction of hourly PV power output. As a result, the total solar radiation is calculated and the total energy of EV charging, household load, and PV are constructed for two months from each season. The hourly PV power output is achieved based on the total solar radiation, the panels’ operation temperature, and the day-type index.
