Abstract

Power inverters now act as an important emergency power transmitter in the event of a large power distribution failure. The AC output voltage of a power inverter is generally not sine and as a result has too much harmonic content. The sine pulse width modulation scheme (SPWM) is typically used to convert a DC power supply to an AC power supply by means of a reference voltage waveform evaluation with a triangular waveform, called a carrier.SPWM gives a manner to reduce the total harmonic distortion of load current. The goal of this research is to illustrate a SPWM switching scheme with the aid of using the Altera Cyclone II EP2C5T144 FPGA Development Board. In this SPWM technique, a sinusoidal reference voltage waveform is as compared with the triangular carrier voltage to generate the on and off switching states. This switching scheme will trigger the gate of the power switch. The SPWM switching techniques applied using Altera Cyclone II EP2C5T144 FPGA Development Board and switching between reference and carrier waveforms of SPWM is received by using PSPICE A/D Lite software. Simulation on the layout of the waveform has been performed using Quartus II web edition software program supplied by Altera. The output frequency of SPWM is 50 Hz and the design is restrained to a value of modulation index which is 0.75.
