Repair and Strengthening Techniques for RC Structures

An adequate strength capacity for repair and strengthening of existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures has emerged as a big challenge for civil engineers. There are design guidelines such as ACI 440 for externally carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) but for concrete jacketing documents are very limited. This paper presents an overview of techniques for repair and strengthening of existing RC structures. Concrete jacketing and CFRP strengthening, which are commonly used to improve the performance are described.
