Abstract

In the standalone operation mode of the microgrid, the system is significantly weakened due to a lack of inertia support from the conventional synchronous generator. Hence, in-vestigation of the impact of photovoltaic (PV) power variation and load transition on the standalone microgrid system both stability and quality are essential. In this paper, a mi-crogrid system is modeled in Matlab/Simulink to address the mentioned issues. The sys-tem comprises of two inverter-based distribution generators (DGs) assigned with droop control and virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control in other to compare the ability of frequency stabilization in standalone microgrid during PV power variation and load transition. Consequently, the results have demonstrated the VSG control provides outper-form compared to droop control.
