Abstract | The thesis presents on bolted connection of steel structure, which focuses on the analysis of beam-column connections complying the American Institute of Steel Construction Specification (AISC Specification). The material that used for beam and column member is ASTM Steel Grade A572-50 with yield strength Fy = 344.738 MPa and Fu = 448.159 MPa. For the connection plate, the ASTM Steel Grade A36 with yield strength Fy = 248.211 MPa and Fu =399.896 MPa is used, along with the high strength bolt Grade ASTM A490 with diameter dbolt = 25.4 mm. This thesis on beam-column connections explored two types of connections - Partially Restrained Moment Connection and Fully Restrained Moment Connection with constant uniform loaded and the same profile of structure members. This thesis aimed to find out and compare the resistance capacity of both connections as well as the usage of appropriate materials for those connections. The typical failure modes were also shown. The comparison of these results found out the FR moment connection is more economical and advantages connection for the whole structure. |
