Abstract

This study focuses on investigation of the behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) and the determination of flexural capacity of the beams. In addition, discussion on findings obtained from the literature for the RC beams with FRP was also addressed.
Methods of strengthening RC beams with externally bonded with FRP and of that with near surface mounted with adaption of ACI-440.2R-17 gave roughly the same moment capacity. According to research done by Steve Efe and Jacob Oluwoye (2020) [37], it showed that the predicted results were underestimate compared to experimental results.
For one layer of FRP strengthening RC beams, the prediction differed 11% compared to the test results and for two layers of that, the prediction gave 7% offset. Based on this study, it could be concluded that the variation of predicted moment capacity depended on the number of layers of FRP and its thickness.
