Abstract

Cambodia aims to supply electricity to all villages with 100% electricity by 2020. In fact, in 2015, the supply was 62%. Electricity consumption in Cambodia is growing at an average annual rate of 6.9%. Seeing the shortage of energy in the future, many PV Power Plant projects have been installed in the past few years. In Svay Rieng province, PV Power Plant was completed in 2017 with a capacity of 10 MWac. In Kampong Speu province, the PV Power Plant was completed in 2019 with a capacity of 60 MWac, and in Kampong Chhnang province, there is a PV Power Plant project of 100 MWac. PV Power Plant has become a popular power plant because it provides reliable, noise-free, non-toxic environment with higher yields and lower solar panel prices.

A study processes for 622.08 kW PV Power Plant was designed by installing solar panels on the roofs of four buildings. The energy generated is used in conjunction with the National Grid to supply energy at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia under temperature conditions in Phnom Penh.

The study included estimates of solar radiation, solar panel alignment and generation, energy loss forecasts in PV systems, and performance ratios for the system.

The results of the study showed that the PV plant has a high energy density which is suitable for installing a PV Power Plant. In addition estimated power generation for the first year is 962,038 MWh with performance ratio between 81% to 84% and the plant could reduce CO2 emissions by 17086,014 tons in 25 years.
