Abstract

The present study addresses the reinforced concrete (RC) beams with opening. This opening reduces weight of the concrete beam and helps to install the mechanical system, telephone line, computer cable and electrical service in the building. A total of 7 RC beams including solid section and circular and square opening section have been modeled and analysis. The beam has a section
of 150mm x 300mm and 2000mm in length. The diameter of 100mm circular opening and 100mm square opening have been used. Both opening shape have made at 325mm, 625mm and 925mm from the support. To evaluate the behavior of materials and RC beams under static load, computer software ABAQUS 2020was used. The results showed that the beams with circular opening at the position from 325mm to 625mm were 5% stronger than square opening beams and from 925mm circular opening beams were weaker than square opening beams. 25%. And 100mm square opening beams in the shear zone, the beam resistance is reduced from 2% to 10%. And 100mm square opening beams in the bending zonereduce the beam resistance from 10% to 30%.
