Abstract

In present era, beam-supported slabs systems using reinforced concrete are commonly used for the construction. The use of flat plate building provides many advantages over beam-supported slabs building in terms of architectural flexibility, use of space, easier form work and shorter construction time.

In the present work, beam-supported slabs and flat plates systems with four story buildings are considered for cost comparison. In this research of flat plates building and beam-supported slabs building of different spans have been studies. The cost of construction for theses building has also been compared. To find out the cost of reinforcement, concrete on structural elements slabs, beams, columns are considered. For modeling and analysis of beam-supported slabs system and flat plates system, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis software is used. The dead loads, live loads are considered as ACI Code.
