Abstract

The mechanical properties of the weld joint are greatly affected by the geometry of the weld bead. Reinforcement height, depth of penetration and weld bead width are considered to be the most important factors of the weld bead geometry. It was also observed that the depth of penetration, rein-forcement height and width of the weld bead were not significantly affected when the welding incense burner angle was 85o-90o, but below 85o the depth of penetration and reinforcement height decreased and the width bead increased. It is very important to establish the relationship between the welding process parameters and the weld bead geometry for achieving good quality weld bead.
