Abstract | This present study addresses an assessment of effects on punching shear behavior and capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs. The review on the punching shear capacity of the RC slab-column connection were conducted based on well-known literature. From the assessment, the concrete strength including concrete with steel fibers contributes sig-nificantly in the punching shear strength of the RC slabs. In addition, types and details of shear reinforcement layout also was shown a great effect on the punching shear behavior and capacity. The punching shear of RC slabs strengthened with higher strength overlays, with post-installed shear bolts, or with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) was additionally discussed. Last but not least, the practical standard codes such as ACI 318, Eurocode 2, and Model Code 2010 for determining the punching shear strength were also summarized in this paper. |
