Abstract

This study describes about Comparative Study of the Effect of Wind Load on Low-Rise Building and High-Rise Building that its purpose is to observe characteristic of wind load acting on low-rise and high-rise building and then determine the height of building that the effect of wind load can be neglected.
The procedure of this study conforms to the existing design process of wind load in the code ASCE/SEI 7-22 STANDARD, Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures. First step, I will choose any plan for each low-rise and high-rise building and then design and observe the wind load acting on both buildings. Next step, I will choose other plan for studying of reducing the number of stories of the building to see whether how height of building that the effect of wind load can be neglected.
From the result of this study demonstrated that wind pressures acting on low-rise building is based on two load cases (1) basic load cases and (2) torsional load cases, acting independently and they are being loaded simultaneously and for wind pressures acting on high-rise building are separated into individual wind loads for windward wall, leeward wall, sidewall and roof surface of the building but we shall apply these loads only for windward wall, leeward wall and roof surface and they are being loaded simultaneously. Furthermore, from the design of wind load of 8 cases for 9 stories building through 2 stories building, we observed that for the design of structural members such as foundation, column, and beam of 4 stories building, we can neglect the effect of the wind load.
