Abstract

A big part of electrical energy consumption was used to generate hot water for uses in residences hotels and hospital. This current study introduced a method of using flat plate solar collectors to generate hot water so that the electrical energy consumption could be saved, and the annual cost of electricity could also be reduced. This simulation study was conducted under the climate conditions of Phnom Penh. The results revealed that the method is beneficial, and the hot water could be produced around 350 liters per day at water temperature of up to 66oC for a series of two solar collectors. In addition, the economic analysis was also taken into account.
