Abstract

In the standalone operation mode of the microgrid, the system is significantly weakened due to a lack of inertia support from the conventional synchronous generator. Hence, investigation of the impact of photovoltaic (PV) power variation and load transition on the standalone microgrid system both stability and quality are essential. In this paper, a microgrid system is modeled in Matlab/Simulink to address the mentioned issues. The system comprises of two inverter-based distribution generators (DGs) assigned with droop control, PV system, battery energy storage system (BESS) and loads. The results demonstrated the impact of PV power fluctuation and load transition on the system’s frequency, the effect of BESS to mitigate the frequency variation.
