Abstract | The primary role of Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) is for obtaining the most efficient operation out of an electrical power system generation network. The main objective of performing the ELD is to minimize the generator fuel cost. To solve the problem, Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) algorithm is proposed in this research. There are two case studies, first case is used IEEE 6 bus with 3 generators and second case is used IEEE 26 bus with 6 generators, simulated using MATLAB R2016a m-file. As the result, for the first case study there are total power generators 217.802 MW, total power load 210.000 MW, total costs 2691.18 $/hr and total power loss 7.802 MW. Another case there are total power generator 191.800 MW, total power load 189.200 MW, total cost 575.25 $/hr, and total power loss 2.608 MW. As the result, the performance of IPSO algorithm is better than traditional algorithm in low fuel cost and least iterations. |
